Residents should familiarize themselves with the use of and rules/restrictions of these amenities to include owner responsibilities, which can be found in the Handbook.

Management Office

Open daily from 8:30am to 5:30pm, except Federal holidays. Closed daily for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30pm. The General Manager supports unit and building related issues.

Security Desk

AKW contracts with an outside security firm for guard services to walk the grounds of the community and provide resident support.

Parking & Transportation

Residents and their guests have access to on-site parking on the premises. Read more about visitor parking on our Visit page.

Public bus stops are located outside of AKW on Edsall Road and Yoakum Parkway. The closest Metro stop is the Van Dorn Metro (1.3 miles) which services the Blue and Yellow lines.


The office can accept pick-up and delivery of packages on behalf of the resident (pending Package Acceptance signature on the Resident Registration Form). The office has no jurisdiction over when parcels arrive. The freight elevator may be reserved for large deliveries if necessary.

Pet Walking Area

A designated pet walking area is located across the main entrance. Pets must be kept on a leash, held by the pet owner, or confined to a pet carrier while in the common areas. This includes the hallways, elevators, lobby, and outside grounds that are not part of the designated pet area.

Pool & Jacuzzi

Open Memorial Day to Labor Day. Pool passes and rules are issued annually. A qualified lifeguard is on-duty during hours of operation:

Monday – Friday:
11:00am to 8:00pm

Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 10:00am to 8:00pm

There is no swimming allowed during lifeguard designated breaks.

Billiard & Library

Two billiard tables and pool sticks are available in the billiard room. Additional equipment may be obtained from the Building Manager or from the Security Guard on-duty. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

The library contains books to take or exchange. There is no obligation to return borrowed items, but please return rather than discard, and consider donating material to share with others.

Party Rooms

The party rooms are intended for building-sponsored social events and other activities attended by Co-Owners, lessees and their guests and for events sponsored by individual owners or residents. The rooms may be reserved with the Building Manager on a first come/first served basis.

Tennis Court

Open daily: 7:00am to 10:00pm. Residents may reserve one hour blocks by recording their name and unit number on the reservation chart posted outside the court. The Building Manager or Security Guard will provide access.

Exercise Rooms

Two exercise rooms include space for aerobics and free exercise and a variety of strength and weight training equipment. Men and women have separate saunas, changing cubicles, and shower areas.

Storage Area

Each unit owner is provided an assigned storage bin. Storage areas are located in a secured area adjacent to the lobby.

Trash / Recycling

A trash chute is available on every floor. Designated recycling bins can be found in the main trash/recycle room near the West entrance of the building.

Handyman Services

AKW offers limited services through on-site maintenance staff. Services can be scheduled using BuildingLink.

Heating / AC Units

Owners are responsible for maintenance of their HVAC units. See the HVAC Inspection policy in the Resident Handbook or available from building staff.
